About Pharo For the Scientist Workshop

Pharo is a language which is multiple and offers a great plasticity. It allows one to have a very interactive and efficient programming flow based on validation cycles (Xtreme Test Driven Development). Moreover, Pharo can easily interact with existing systems. During this workshop we will show how Pharo can interface with the world:

  • Connect to BLAS, the Fortran mathematical library, as an example of the use of existing and powerful libraries
  • Xtreme test driven by example
  • Script interactive visualizations
  • Build a little web REST server in a few minutes
  • Use PyBridge to script numpy libraries
  • Adapt and extend the environment to apply visualisations and boost your productivity
  • Build fast a GTK User interface
